CITIZEN’S POLICE REVIEW BOARD MINUTES Meeting Date: Monday, April 1, 2019 Location: Muskegon City Hall, Room 103 Board Members Present: Ruby Clark, Ann Craig, Josie James, William Muhammad, Rozelia Patio, and Faye Redmon Board Members Absent: David Bukala (excused), and Robert Roundtree (excused) Staff Present: Samantha Ferguson, Staff Liaison The meeting was called to order at 6:32pm, by W. Mahammad. A quorum was present. Approval of the Previous Minutes J. James moved to accept the minutes as presented, seconded by F. Redmon. No additional discussion. Unanimous support. Motion carried. Brief introduction of board members and staff liaison and welcome to new board member R. Patino. Unfinished Business W. Muhammad presented the election of board president and vice president to be postponed until the May meeting when more members of the board are present. F. Redmond inquired about the “redacting” of the names from the complaints and supporting documentation. W. Muhammad explained that there has not been an issue of privacy to date, as the information can be considered public information as the board is a public body. Discussion continued. W. Muhammad stated that during the February meeting, the board requested a copy of the department’s Policy and Procedures, a copy was provided to the board in the March meeting packets for review. W. Muhammad presented a draft of a potential Press Release, with the purpose of informing the citizens of Muskegon of the presence of the board. The draft was reviewed by the present board members. Discussion of further explanation of the complaint process being added to the press release, and an inquiry from R. Patino regarding the availability of the forms online. Additional discussion presented the question from F. Redmond, of having the forms also being made available in Spanish. No further discussion of unfinished business. New Business W. Muhammad suggested the review of the meeting handouts at member’s convenience. No further discussion of new business. Public Participation None. Adjournment A. Craig moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by J. James. Motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 7:14p.m. The next meeting is May 6, 2019 at 6:30pm in room 103 of Muskegon City Hall.
