City Commission Worksession

MINUTES
The City Commission Worksession was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Mayor
Warmington.
Present: Mayor Stephen Warmington, Vice Mayor Bill Larson, Commissioner Lawrence
Spataro, Chris Carter, Kevin Davis, Stephen Gawron, and Clara Shepherd.
1. Irish Music Festival.
Chris Zahrt, 2184 Estes, representative for the Irish Music Festival requested
that Baileys Irish Cream be served at the Michigan Irish Music Festival in
September 2005.
Commission agreed with the request. This will go before the Leisure Services
Board.
2. Request from Brenda Moore.
Bryon Mazade explained the request and the Commission discussed this item.
Motion by Commissioner Spataro, second by Commissioner Davis to
recommend adoption by the City Commission to waive $1,500 of the fees
owed for the move of the building at 607 W. Clay.
ROLL VOTE: Ayes: Davis, Gawron, Larson, Shepherd, Spataro,
Warmington, and Carter
Nays: None
MOTION PASSES
3. Engineering Update – Former Mall Property Redevelopment.
MoHammed Al-Shatel introduced a representative from Fleis & Vandenbrink
Engineering, Inc. who gave an update.
4. Farmer’s Market Relocation.
Bryon Mazade gave an overview. Discussion was held and comments were
heard from the public.
5. Amendment to Special Event Policy.
Item was explained by Lee Slaughter. This request will be put on the
February 8th City Commission Meeting.
6. Any other business.
Bryon Mazade gave an explanation of the Grant Agreement with the State of
Michigan for voting equipment. This request will be put on the February 8th
City Commission Meeting.
Vice Mayor Larson asked about the marina and boat ramp fees. Bryon
Mazade will check into this and bring information back to the Commission.
Commissioner Davis asked about returning to inspection of houses that are for
sale including land contract.
Fire Department personnel passed out a letter to the Commissioners and asked
that no decision be made at this time reference the Fire Department taking
over inspections of homes.
MoHammed Al-Shatel explained the LED Traffic Signals item which is on
the February 8th City Commission Meeting.
7. Adjournment.
The meeting adjourned at 7:27 p.m.
