CITY OF MUSKEGON MUSKEGON HOUSING BOARD OF APPEALS MEETING MINUTES 02/05/09 5:30PM ATTENDANCE: Randy Mackie, Ed Simmons, Nick Kroes, Kirk Kolberg (late), Chris Carter(late), Greg Borgman ABSENT: EXCUSED: Jon Rolewicz STAFF: Carmen Smith, Jim Hoppus, Don LaBrenz, Ken Murar, Henry Faltinowski, Anthony Kleibecker GUESTS: Meeting minutes: A motion was made by Randy Mackie and seconded by Nick Kroes to approve the January 2009 minutes. DANGEROUS BUILDING NEW CASES EN-070210 – 911 W. Hackley (Shed Only) – Wells Fargo Bank, 701 Corporate Center Dr., Raleigh, NC 27607 No one was present to represent case. Chief Kleibecker reviewed case stating inspection was conducted 11/20/08 and Notice & Order sent shortly afterwards, no compliance. Pictures reviewed by the board. Motion made by Nick Kroes to declare building substandard, a public nuisance, and dangerous building and forward to city commission for their concurrence and seconded by Randy Mackie. Chief Kleibecker stated case is where a elderly woman was rescued and inspection was conducted that day. No compliance to Notice & Order. Pictures were reviewed by the board. EN-080278 – 1451 Leahy – Evelyn L. McMillian – 525 Houston Ave., Muskegon, MI 49440 No one present to represent case. Chief Kleibecker reviewed case stating inspection conducted 11/14/07 after fire reported at residence. Chief Kleibecker asked why there was a delay in writing as dangerous building. Don LaBrenz reported that first case was processed for fire then after no response from owner it was then wrote up as a dangerous building. Staff Recommendation: Declare building substandard, a public nuisance, and dangerous building and forward to city commission for their concurrence. OLD BUSINESS: Ed Simmons asked about case at 60 E. Walton if there had been contact with owner. Greg Borgman asked about residence at 238 Houston. Henry Faltinowski said he would take a look when snow is off the roof. Jim Hoppus had question about the ownership of 1692 Hoyt, Chief Kleibecker stated home was owned by the son of the woman involved. NEW BUSINESS: ADJOURNMENT: 5:45 PM CITY OF MUSKEGON AMERICAN DISABILITY ACT POLICY FOR ACCESS TO OPEN MEETINGS OF THE CITY COMMISSION AND ANY OF ITS COMMITTEES OR SUBCOMMITTEES. The City of Muskegon will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as signers for the hearing impaired and audiotapes of printed materials being considered at the meeting, upon twenty-four hours notice to the City of Muskegon.
