Minutes Citizen’s District Council Meeting City of Muskegon CDBG Conference Room 103 Muskegon, Michigan December 3, 2019 CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Kim Burr at 5:30 pm. ROLL CALL: Roll call was taken by Samantha Pulos-Porter, and a quorum was present. ➢ Present: ✓ Ken Johnson - Commissioner ✓ Jeremy Lenertz ✓ Kim Burr ✓ Samantha Ferguson ✓ Veania Coleman ➢ Absent: ✓ Carrie Johnson ✓ Eleanor Canter ➢ Excused: ✓ ➢ Staff Present: ✓ Oneata Bailey ✓ Samantha Pulos-Porter APPROVAL OF MINUTES: A motion to approve the minutes from June 4, 2019 was made by Jeremy Lenertz; Veania Coleman seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. OLD BUSINESS: No Old Business was on the agenda. Veania asked for an update on the Summer Youth Employment Program. Oneata reported that 50 students participated and that the program focused on students that were at-risk of not graduating. The program is expected to continue as- is for 2020. Veania also asked for an update on the 3rd Street Beautification. Oneata will give a report on the status of this project at January’s CDC Meeting. NEW BUSINESS: Oneata explained that CNS’ Homebuyers Assistance Grant Program just celebrated its 5 year anniversary. A handout was distributed to CDC Members with data about homeowners that participated. STAFF REPORTS: CNS currently has three rehab homes in the process. Their current statuses are as follows: 567 Leonard: Currently being abated for lead. Seeking the City Commission’s approval to award the rehab contract on 12/10/19. 602 Ada: RFP completed for the rehab and lead abatement. CNS will seek the City Commission’s approval on 12/10/19 to award the contract and move forward. 1639 5th: House is nearing completion and at that time, will be appraised and listed for sale. ADJOURN: Jeremy Lenertz motioned to adjourn the meeting, Veania Coleman seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 6:18 pm. NEXT MEETING: The next meeting date is: January 7, 2020. GENERAL DISCUSSION: The Muskegon County Senior Millage Program was discussed. Oneata explained that CNS has received its funding allocation for 2019 and 2020, and there is also the possibility of receiving additional funding. Kim requested an update on the Smith Ryerson project for next meeting as well.
