                                         MINUTES OF THE
                       LOCAL OFFICER’S COMPENSATION COMMISSION MEETING
                                    TUESDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2021


MEMBERS PRESENT: Greg Borgman, Paul Edbrooke, Dwayne Lang, Marty Ferriby, Todd Susterich

MEMBERS ABSENT: Michael Hughes, Samara McIntosh

STAFF PRESENT: Frank Peterson, Barb Shullenberger

    I.      Call Meeting to Order
            The meeting was called to order at 4:05 p.m. by Dwayne Lang.

    II.     Election of New Chairperson
            A motion was made to elect Paul Edbrooke as the new chairperson by Dwayne Lang and
            seconded by Greg Borgman and was unanimously approved.

    III.    Approval of Minutes of October 29, 2019
            A motion was made to accept the October 29, 2019 minutes by Paul Edbrooke and
            seconded by Greg Borgman and was unanimously approved.

    IV.     Setting of Salaries for the Mayor and City Commissioners for 2022 and 2023
            Frank Peterson answered commissions’ questions regarding the Michigan Municipal
            League’s list of salary information for Mayors and City Commission from cities in Michigan
            with comparable population, their current salaries and year of last increase.

            Marty Ferriby noted that she had reviewed the 2021 salaries of comparable cities and felt
            that current salaries should be raised. The commission agreed.

            After further discussion, it was decided that the salaries should be increased. Greg Borgman
            made a motion to raise the Mayor salary from $8,100 to $8,600 and the Commission salary
            from $6,500 to $6,900 and was seconded by Marty Ferriby. It was unanimously approved.

    V.      Training, Education and Travel Budget
            The commission determined that the training, education and travel budget shall remain the
            same for 2022 and 2023.

    VI.     Adjourn
            A motion was made by Dwayne Lange to adjourn the meeting and was seconded by Paul
            Edbrooke. The meeting adjourned at 4:24.
