MINUTES OF THE
LOCAL OFFICER’S COMPENSATION COMMISSION
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 5, 1999
MEMBERS PRESENT: Richard Rienstra, Stephan Holdeman, Faye Redmond, and
Winford Morrisey
MEMBERS ABSENT: Floyd DeForest, Gregory Kirksey, and Roger McClary
STAFF PRESENT: Bryon Mazade and Joan Stone
I. The meeting was officially called to order by the former Chairperson, Faye
Redmond, at 4:13 P.M. City Manager Mazade advised the Commission that
Floyd DeForest had called the office earlier in the day to inform him that he was
called out of town and would be late, if he made it all, to the meeting today.
II. A motion was made by Holdeman, supported by Redmond, to appoint Winford
Morrisey as Chairperson. Motion carried unanimously.
III. A motion was made by Rienstra, supported by Redmond, to approve the minutes
of October 29, 1997, as corrected. Chairperson Redmond’s name was
misspelled in on the minutes of October 29, 1997. Motion carried unanimously
with the correction noted.
IV. After discussion occurred regarding the salaries for the Mayor and City
Commissioners, a motion was made by Redmond, supported by Rienstra, to
raise the salary for the Mayor to $7,000 and to raise the salary for the City
Commissioners to $5,500 for years 2000 and 2001. Motion carried unanimously.
V. Motion made by Redmond, supported by Rienstra, to adjourn. Motion carried
and the meeting was adjourned at 4:37 P.M.
