Regular Meeting Minutes
Monday, January 23, 2017

I. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Commissioner David Wendtland at 10:00
a.m.
Also present: Commissioner Kevin Huss, Kristen N. Wade, Human Resources
Director, Dwana Thompson, Affirmative Action/Risk Manager, Anne James
Benefits Specialist and Lisa Vanderlaan Departmental Clerk.
II. MINUTES
Motion was made by Commissioner Huss and seconded by Commissioner
Wendtland to approve the regular minutes of the December 08, 2016
meeting.
Motion Carried.
III. ACTION AGENDA
A. Approve the revised job description for the City Fire Battalion Chief. No
questions.
B. Approve the revised job description for the City Fire Lieutenant. Commissioner
Huss expressed concern about the levels of experience required for each
position. Ms. Thompson clarified experience requirements.
C. Approve the revised job description for the City Fire Captain. No questions
D. Approve the revised job description for City Assistant Fire Mechanic. No
questions.
E. Approve the revised job description for the City Firefighter. No questions.
F. Approve the revised job description for the City Assistant Fire Chief (Exempt). No
questions.
Motion was made by Commissioner Huss and seconded by
Commissioner Wendtland to approve the job description as amended
for the Fire Battalion Chief, Fire Lieutenant, Fire Captain, Assistant
Fire Mechanic, Firefighter, and Assistant Fire Chief (Exempt) job
descriptions.
Motion Carried.
IV. OLD BUSINESS
None
V. OTHER BUSINESS
Ms. Wade recommended that the Civil Service Rules currently in force be
adopted at the next meeting and any future amendments will be reviewed and
voted on by the Civil Service Commissioners.
VI. ADJOURNMENT
Meeting adjourned at 10:10 a.m.
