MUSKEGON BOARD OF CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSIONERS
Regular Meeting Minutes
Monday, March 13, 2017

I. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Commissioner Kevin Huss at 4:15PM.
Also present: Commissioner Johnny Brown, Kristen N. Wade, Human Resources
Director, Chief Lewis, City of Muskegon Chief of Police, Frank Peterson,
Muskegon City Manager and Lisa Vanderlaan, Departmental Clerk.
II. MINUTES
Motion was made by Commissioner Huss and seconded by Commissioner
Brown to approve the regular minutes of the January 23, 2017 meeting.
Motion Carried.
III. ACTION AGENDA
Motion was made by Commissioner Huss and seconded by
Commissioner Brown to table the job description of EEO/Employee
Relations Director.
Motion Carried.
A. Approve the revised job description for the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor. No
questions.
B. Approve the revised job description for the Public Utilities Supervisor. No
questions.
Motion was made by Commissioner Huss and seconded by
Commissioner Brown to approve the revisions to the Fleet Maintenance
Supervisor and Public Utilities Supervisor job descriptions.
Motion Carried.
C. Approve to ratify the Muskegon Board Of Civil Service Commissioners
Rules and Regulations as amended June 1, 1987. No questions.
Motion was made by Commissioner Huss and seconded by
Commissioner Brown to ratify the Rules and Regulations with the
ratify date of March 15, 2017.
Motion Carried.
IV. OLD BUSINESS
None
V. OTHER BUSINESS
Chief Lewis discussed ideas to improve recruiting and retention efforts. He will
bring more details to the Commissioners at a later meeting.
