PICNIC SHELTER RESERVATION POLICY
Purpose
To secure an efficient process for citizens and
groups to reserve use of Picnic Shelters in the City
of Muskegon.
Requirements for Reservation
1. Time Period
a) Reservations may be made for the year
anytime after January 1°.
Applicants must turn in an application
seven days prior to intended-use date.
All applications shall be considered in
the chronological order received. A
separate application must be submitted for
each period of use.
a) Reservations will be held for 14 days
after initial contact. If not paid within
that time period reservation will be
suspended. However if no other party has
reserved the same date, time, and
location, the party may simply pay the fee
in order to reinstate the reservation.
Reservations are on first come, first pay
basis.
A person must be 18 years of age to

reserve a picnic shelter.
Reservations are not secured until full
payment has been received.
a) Checks are payable to: City of Muskegon
e) Reservations may be made by mail or in
person only.
Refunds
a) No refund of any portion of the fee will
be made after the reservation has been
made and paid for unless the Department of
Leisure Services is able to reserve the
shelter to another party.
b) No refunds shall be made as a result of
inclement weather.
Rules
a) Rules are in place to ensure continuous
good condition of park facilities, low
costs of facility rental, and the safety
of any and all persons who might be
present in the park.
b) No person shall consume alcohol in City of
Muskegon parks.
All motorized vehicles must be left in
designated parking areas.
Patrons are expected to clean up after
themselves. Wipe down tables; take care
of trash etc.
e) All advertising except that incidental to
programs, and all sale of merchandise or
other material is prohibited unless
specific written approval is obtained from
the Department of Leisure Services.
£) Solicitation, circulation of petitions, or
any other such activity must be approved
in advance by the Department of Leisure
Services.
The park staff has the authority to ask
uncooperative offenders to leave the park.
Any violation of park ordinances may
result in loss of reservation and future
access to park facilities.
h) Groups are legally and financially
responsible for any and all damage caused
during their occupancy of the facility.
5. Disclaimer
a) The City of Muskegon assumes no
responsibility, financial or otherwise,
for accidents or injuries sustained by
individuals or groups or individuals using
any facility.
